Why Siri AI Is Not Showing Up in iOS 27 and How to Enable It

If Siri AI is not showing up in iOS 27, your iPhone usually does not meet one of its requirements: it must be a supported Apple Intelligence model, run iOS 27 or later, use supported Siri and device language settings, and be in a supported location. Siri AI is initially available in English and is not initially available on iPhone in the European Union or China mainland. On an eligible iPhone, go to Settings > Siri > Try Siri AI (Beta).

Check Siri AI eligibility first

Work through these checks before changing settings. They cover the main reasons that the Siri AI option does not appear.

  1. Confirm the installed iOS version. Open Settings > General > About and look beside iOS Version. Siri AI requires iOS 27 or later. Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026. If iOS 26.7 appears as an available update, look for the separate iOS 27 upgrade option under Also Available. See why your iPhone shows iOS 26.7 instead of iOS 27.
  2. Check your iPhone model. Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 model or later. Open Settings > General > About to see the model name.
  3. Check both language settings. Siri AI is available in English at launch. Set both the iPhone language and Siri language to English before checking again.
  4. Check your location. Siri AI is not initially available on iPhone in the European Union or China mainland. This is separate from the availability of other Apple Intelligence features.
  5. Check the account age. Apple says Siri AI is not available to users under 13.
  6. Use the current Settings menu. In iOS 27, the relevant menu is Settings > Siri, not the older Siri & Search or Apple Intelligence & Siri menu names.

If your iPhone meets these requirements but the option is still missing, install any available iOS update, restart the iPhone, and check Settings > Siri again. Do not install unofficial configuration profiles or try to bypass regional restrictions.

Find the reason Siri AI is missing

Your iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence

An iPhone can be compatible with iOS 27 without being compatible with Apple Intelligence. This is the most important distinction. The oldest supported models are iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max; the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are not eligible.

iPhone 14, iPhone 13, and older families may run iOS 27, but a settings change, reset, download, or subscription cannot add Siri AI to unsupported hardware. The previous version of Siri remains available for ordinary Siri requests on supported older iPhones.

Your language settings are not supported

Apple Intelligence supports more languages than Siri AI does at launch. Siri AI is rolling out as a beta in English. Apple has said that French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support is coming in October 2026, but those languages are not part of the initial English launch.

Check both settings:

  • For the iPhone language, open Settings > General > Language & Region, then select or add English as the primary iPhone language.
  • For Siri, open Settings > Siri > Language, then choose an English option.

After changing a language, allow the iPhone to finish applying the change, then return to Settings > Siri. Restarting once is reasonable if the option does not appear immediately.

Other Apple Intelligence tools, such as Writing Tools, Genmoji, notification summaries, and image features, can have different language and regional availability. Their presence does not confirm that Siri AI is available on the same iPhone.

You are in an unavailable location

Siri AI is not initially available on iPhone in the European Union or China mainland. Apple’s feature-availability information also lists Siri AI as English only at launch. Changing Siri to English does not override a location restriction.

Apple Intelligence availability in China mainland has additional conditions related to where the device was purchased, the user’s location, and the Apple Account country or region. Avoid changing an Apple Account country or region solely to seek access to Siri AI, as this can affect purchases, subscriptions, and other account services without providing an approved solution.

Importantly, an iPhone user in the European Union may have access to some newer Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27 while Siri AI itself remains unavailable. Check Apple’s feature-availability page for the individual feature rather than assuming that all Apple Intelligence tools have identical rules.

Siri is turned off or setup is incomplete

Siri AI is a new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, rather than a separate app that you download from the App Store. If Siri is turned off, iOS asks you to enable it before you can try Siri AI.

Open Settings > Siri. If Siri is off, choose Turn On Siri, then select Try Siri AI (Beta). If Siri is already on, select Try Siri AI (Beta) directly and complete the onscreen instructions.

Enable Siri AI on an eligible iPhone

Apple’s activation steps for iOS 27 are short:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Siri.
  3. If Siri is off, tap Turn On Siri.
  4. Tap Try Siri AI (Beta).
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setup.

The correct path is Settings > Siri > Try Siri AI (Beta). If the button is not displayed, return to the eligibility checks rather than relying on instructions for earlier iOS versions.

If you see Use Siri Classic, that is an option for switching back to the previous Siri version after Siri AI has been enabled. It is not the control for turning Siri AI on. Apple’s instructions place it in the process for turning Siri off and then choosing the previous version of Siri.

What Siri AI adds and what you can fix

Siri AI is a conversational assistant with personal-context understanding, awareness of information onscreen, and broader world knowledge. It can search relevant information in apps such as Photos, Mail, Messages, and Calendar; answer questions about content on screen; take actions across more apps; help draft or revise text; and continue conversations in the dedicated Siri app. Siri AI also adds Siri mode in Camera, which uses Visual Intelligence to identify, search, and act on what is in the camera view.

FeatureWhat it doesWho can use it
Previous SiriHandles familiar voice requests, calls, messages, device controls, and basic informationAvailable on a wider range of compatible iPhones
Siri AIAdds personal context, follow-up conversations, onscreen awareness, broader knowledge, and more app actionsBeta on eligible Apple Intelligence iPhones with supported settings
Other Apple Intelligence featuresIncludes Writing Tools, Genmoji, notification summaries, and image toolsAvailability varies by feature, language, region, and device

You can usually fix an outdated iOS version, an unsupported language setting, Siri being turned off, or incomplete setup. You cannot enable Siri AI through normal troubleshooting on unsupported hardware, for a user under 13, or where the feature is not available. Apple also notes that some server-based Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI, can be subject to daily usage limits.

If your iPhone model, iOS version, age, language settings, and location all qualify but Try Siri AI (Beta) still does not appear after an update and restart, contact Apple Support for account- or device-specific help.
